PRR Train 4, The Penn-Texas was a part of the PRR Blue Ribbon fleet. It ran between St. Louis and New York City The train was notible for carrying through passenger cars to Texas destinations.
The through passenger cars for this train were received from The Frisco and the Missouri Pacific at St. Louis.
Durring 1957, the Pennsy had 2 Plan 4140 10-6 sleepers (Tioga Rapids and Swatara Rapids) painted for the Texas Special and 11 plan 9008 10-6 sleepers painted for The Eagle (Eagle Beam,Bluff,Charm,Chief,Cove,Eye,Grove,Head,Oak,Park,Pass). Cars in standard PRR paint were used on some car lines (Tippecanoe Rapids was a regular on the Texas Special).
